Saint Michael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is Non profit organization located in Columbus, OH. This Church abides by the Church of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo, its teaching and religious regulation with respect to matters of faith, worship and creed.
Our History
The Church was established by few Ethiopian community immigrants as their place of worship with the following core objectives:
- To establish and maintain a Church of religious worship in accordance with the teaching of Christianity as adopted by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
- To conduct and maintain services of divine worship and religious observance according to the traditions and values of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
- To provide spiritual and cultural educational programs in order to increase understanding of the history, culture, languages and values of Ethiopia.
- To establish different programs and projects to provide charitable services to the needy.
- To provide Baptism, Marriage and Prayer service to Ethiopian Communities.
- To build strong and united Ethiopian Orthodox community that promotes the teaching of Our LORD, JESUS CHRIST to love one another.
What We Believe In
SACRED SCRIPTURE
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired and living Word of God, guiding our faith and daily life. The Old and New Testaments together reveal God’s divine plan for humanity and the salvation of the world through Jesus Christ. The Scriptures are understood and preserved through the apostolic faith, holy tradition, and teachings of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The Bible forms the foundation of our worship, prayer, and moral life. Through the Word of God, we seek spiritual growth, holiness, and unity with Christ.

Ordained Priest Fikreselam serves faithfully at St. Michael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, guiding the congregation in worship and prayer. He is dedicated to preserving the the orthodox faith and holy traditions of the Church. Through his care, teaching, and the administration of the sacraments, he supports the spiritual growth of the faithful. His service reflects humility, devotion, and a deep love for Christ and His Church.
Ordained Priest Mersha
Ordained Priest Esayas serves faithfully at St. Michael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, guiding the congregation in worship and prayer. He is dedicated to preserving the the orthodox faith and holy traditions of the Church. Through his care, teaching, and the administration of the sacraments, he supports the spiritual growth of the faithful. His service reflects humility, devotion, and a deep love for Christ and His Church.
Statement of Faith
We are an Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, rooted in the apostolic faith handed down from the Holy Fathers.
We believe in One God in the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We confess one incarnate nature of the Word of God (Tewahedo), our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We uphold the Holy Bible, together with Sacred Tradition, as the foundation of our faith and life.
We honor the Seven Holy Sacraments as means of God’s grace and salvation.
We venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Saints, and the Holy Angels.
We remain faithful to the teachings, worship, and spiritual heritage of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
